As a fan of productivity and WordPress I love stuff like this. There is a new plugin out there that allows you to dictate your blog posts. I totally need this. I have long spoken my journal blog posts and just uploaded the audio. But that makes it hard to search to find things unless you add meta-data to the entry. I’ve downloaded this and will test it out.

Reminders App

Out of all the announcements from yesterday I think I am most excited about the reminders app. Apple always does such a good job with their built in apps, and to have a built in task manager… that does reminders based on location. Really pretty neat.

But I am already so engrained in Google… perhaps we will be able to sync them up somehow… that would be cool.

Introducing appointment slots in Google Calendar

What a great addition. Google now allows you to set up appointment slots that folks can sign up for. You can even embed it on a website for folks to sign up in. Great move Google! I’ll certainly be passing this onto my clients! Read more below.

This is a great find from all the announcements yesterday for teachers. When the new iOS comes out you will be able to mirror (wirelessly) your iPad on any apple TV.

I have an apple TV and that would certainly make it easier to teach!

The Kno Textbook App Hits The iPad

I am always interested in digital textbook efforts, especially ones from those that have been working in the area for years. Here is a really good one that bears some review.

We are still in talks about revamping the initiative on our campus that puts laptops in the hands of every freshman on campus to include devices like the ipad. Apps like this one are crucial to that discussion.

Regrets of the Dying

Great little article from someone who worked with elderly patients. Here is the list of five things people regret at the end of life.

1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
2. I wish I didn’t work so hard.
3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

I can see a few of these in me as well. Even today I was pondering and thinking about how much I work and for what… more money… more security. Sometimes it seems that I should just simplify and enjoy life more.

What will you regret? What are you going to do to not get there?

I have long been a fan of annotating the web. This is a whole world that needs commentary and thoughts. We are getting there more and more with social sharing links like Facebook’s like, and Google’s +1. I would like to really see a leader from someone that can really provide a good annotation solution.

Google Music

Finally got my Google music invite today! Uploading music now. Very nice. I’ve had an online music library for years, but it is nice to not have to run a server out of my basement to make that work anymore.

You can go to the link below and sign in and request your own invite. Not sure how long it will take, but the fact that I got one already is a good sign. Just requested it a week or two ago.

Apple’s iCloud Needs To Be More Than Just An Online Locker To “Transform Music”

There was a really good article written today about online music. They had some great observations that echo’d what I have been feeling as well. I want a service that is more than just streaming my music online. I can do that now with a variety of services. What I want is a service that transforms music like gmail did for email. Something that makes it better.

Pandora does that pretty well already too… and I already get that everywhere I want (car, phone, computer, home). If I’m going to pay, I’ll pay for that service. It’s much cheaper.
